Benzema got 356 more votes than the runner-up of the Ballon d'Or

Karim Benzema fulfilled his childhood dream and won the award for the best player in the world, the famous Golden Ball from the magazine 'France Football'. And he did it with great authority.

The French won handily. 89 of the 93 journalists with voting power chose Karim Benzema first, almost unanimously.

The countries that did not use the Real Madrid '9' shirt as the first one were the Netherlands, Slovenia, Senegal and Egypt. Even so, Benzema reached 549 points, while Mané came in second with 193.

The daily 'Marca' made a point of recalling that this was the second biggest difference in votes in the history of the award, the first being that of Cristiano Ronaldo in 2016.

Kevin de Bruyne, third, had 175; Mohamed Salah with 170 and Robert Lewandowski with 116 points in addition to the Gerd Müller Trophy.
